London Has Fallen’s latest poster has been released and it proves that the film isn’t going to treat the English capital’s landmarks in the nicest fashion. London Has Fallen will re-team Gerard Butler’s sensational Secret Service agent Mike Banning with Aaron Eckhart’s President Benjamin Asher. However, rather than being stuck inside the White House, this time round they’ve travelled across the pond and have to stop the world’s most powerful men from being murdered. Along the way it looks like a variety of London’s most iconic landmarks will be destroyed. Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square better watch out.
London Has Fallen’s plot will be kick-started by the death of the British Prime Minister, who has perished in rather suspicious circumstances. As you’d expect, his funeral is a must attend event for every world leader that can muster the energy to travel to London. Security is tight, but that doesn’t stop a fiendish plot to kill them all from being unleashed. Unfortunately for these cretinous terrorists there is one man that they didn’t count on: Jack Bau- sorry, Mike Banning. And alongside President Asher and Charlotte Riley's untrusting British MI-6 agent, he looks to stop the attack from happening.
London Has Fallen is of course the sequel to Olympus Has Fallen, the 2013 blockbuster that revolved around a terrorist attack on the White House, which Butler’s Branning expertly thwarted.
If that sounds vaguely familiar, it was also the exact same plot as White House Down, which had Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx as the head of security and President, respectively. However while London Has Fallen was ordered because its predecessor managed to gross a relatively impressive $161 million from a $70 million budget, White House Down wasn’t quite as successful. Well, that’s not technically true, because it did gross $205 million, but it was made for $150 million, so was ultimately deemed a failure. London Has Fallen will arrive in cinemas on October 2, 2015.
