Sony announces that the PlayStation 4’s sales continue to soar, as the company’s current-gen console has moved nearly 30 million units since its release.

According to Sony’s latest financial report, the company has announced decreased sales for the first half of the year, but PlayStation 4 purchases have remained strong, as another 4 million units shipped during the Second Quarter ending on September 30, 2015. Last month, Sony’s hardware led console sales for September 2015, and taking the new figures into account, the system’s total number of units moved sits roughly at 29.3 million.

During the same fiscal quarter last year, Sony sold-in 3.3 million PlayStation 4 systems, with the organization predicting 17.5 million PS4 consoles to have been shipped by the end of the current financial year. The economic uptick is certainly a sea change for the tech firm, as it seems that business is incrementally picking up for the company.

Sony’s gaming division—that is, its Game & Network Services—is also reporting “an increase in PlayStation 4 software sales”. The growth was offset by a decline in PS3 sales compared to last year, but not enough to diminish the branch’s bottom line, for Game & Network Services saw a 19.4% year-on-year increase in sales and operating revenue to ¥360.7 billion ($3 billion).

Meanwhile, Sony’s comprehensive profits were safely in the black at ¥33.6 billion ($278.9 million), up from a loss of ¥136 billion ($1.1 billion) in the same quarter last year. Around this time in 2014 and even earlier in 2015, massive PS4 sales were helping pull Sony out of the red, and now that the company is announcing surplus gains, it’s safe to assume that more divisions within the multinational conglomerate are starting to recover as well.

Since nearly 30 million PlayStation 4 consoles have been successfully sold to date, Sony’s next step for ensuring the current-gen system’s supremacy is to conquer the market completely with top-tier games and content that is only available on the PS4. This holiday season, for instance, is chock full of Xbox One exclusives, while the PlayStation’s offerings in that department are scant at best.

Nevertheless, even though Microsoft’s console has this year’s holiday exclusives wrapped up, the Xbox One is struggling in overall sales when compared with Sony’s system. Not only do Japan sales for the console look absolutely abysmal when put next to the PS4’s stats in the Eastern country, but it’s also worth noting that the Washington-based company’s Xbox division head, Phil Spencer, has been doubtful as to whether or not the Xbox One can actually catch up to the PlayStation 4 in terms of global earnings. At any rate, for Microsoft’s sake, let’s hope its prediction of millions of Xbox 360 users making the transition to Xbox One this winter actually happens.

The PlayStation 4‘s next major exclusive release will be Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which is set to drop on March 18, 2016.
