Bethesda is about to release Fallout 4 in less than two weeks, and everyone is eagerly waiting to play it and to mod it. The problem is that modding won't be possible right away, and the necessary tools for the job will arrive sometime in 2016.

One of the reasons Fallout 3, New Vegas, and Skyrim have been so successful is a huge modding community that changed the game every which way. Entire single-player campaigns were created, enhancing the original experience tenfold. Now, users will have to wait a little bit longer to start the proper modding of Fallout 4.

A Bethesda VP answered some questions on the official Twitter account, and one of them was about the possibility of modding the game. The official's response wasn't really what the community was waiting for, but he at least didn't dismiss it.

"If it's ok with you, we're gonna focus on the game release first and talk about mods when we've figured some stuff out," wrote Pete Hines.

Fortunately, the PC gaming community has shown time and time again that, when it matters, it doesn't really need any kind of tools from the developers. Sure, they will be welcome, and they will open up new modding avenues, but we will probably get to use some mods long before the Creation Kit (official modding stuff) is made available.

Fallout 3 is expected to arrive on November 10, for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
