It has come to my attention that a some folks are reading the previous news bulletin backwards.
baconBits has not had a breach. OTHER websites have had breaches... You see it in the news fairly regularly these days.
When those breaches result in a couple hundred thousand email/username/password combos getting dumped on the internet and someone's foolish enough to use the same username/password combo here, shady individuals end up logging into foolish users' accounts and causing mischief.
No, the site has not had a breach. However, if you're using the same password here as you are anywhere else, it's just a matter of time before your individual account gets breached.
DON'T REUSE PASSWORDS.
