The Netflix release date for Tom Holland's action-adventure adaptation Uncharted has been revealed. The movie, which is adapted from the hit Uncharted video game series, was first released in theaters in February of this year, following years of development hell and postponements due to COVID-19. Despite negative critical reviews, the movie was a modest box office success, grossing close to $402 million against a budget of $120 million, and is one of the highest-grossing video game adaptations ever. Anticipation was high for the action-packed adventure romp, which saw Holland playing the lead role of Nathan Drake, a bartender and explorer, who goes in search of a fabled treasure with fellow fortune hunter Sully, played by Mark Wahlberg.

A recent Tweet from Netflix reveals that the film will land on the popular streaming platform on July 15. Netflix tweet is accompanied by a few images of Holland as Drake, Wahlberg as Sully, and Tati Gabrielle as Braddock. Check out the original Tweet below:

The streamer has endured a difficult six months, with subscribers leaving Netflix and talk of controversial measures such as including adverts. So it seems the streaming giants are trying to attract more of an audience by adding movies they believe will bring in subscribers. Uncharted represents the kind of title that has an existing audience via the medium of video games, and it's an addition that is bound to attract some interest on the platform. It seems clear that Netflix has its work cut out to get back to the summit of the streaming industry once again, and this is one small step toward achieving that.
