The latest movie from the South Park franchise is set to release in November exclusively on Paramount+. This will be the first new South Park content since South ParQ Vaccination Special in March earlier this year. That extended-length special episode along with September 2020's The Pandemic Special was the highest-rated South Park program in several years. South Park is currently cable television's longest-running scripted series and celebrates its 25th anniversary in August 2022.

The new movie comes as part of an extensive deal between Paramount and MTV Entertainment Studios (both owned by ViacomCBS) and series creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The deal extends South Park on Comedy Central through 2027 into the 30th season. Additionally, the deal will see the release of 14 original made-for-streaming events exclusively on Paramount+. 2020 marked the first time since the series premiere that a new season hadn't been released. Though that hasn't slowed its success as fans watched over 2.2 billion episodes of the show so far in 2021.

Paramount+ has announced that the new South Park special, South Park: Post Covid, will release exclusively on Paramount+ on Thursday, November 25th. Outside of the US, it will also be available for viewing in the Nordics, Latin America, Australia, and Canada. There aren't any details on the plot of the movie at the moment, but fans can anticipate the highly awaited debut of Kyle, Stan, Kenny and Cartman on Paramount+. Paramount+ also announced a second exclusive special that will be airing later this year following South Park: Post Covid. The currently untitled new special will be released on Paramount+ in December. Both specials will likely deal with the South Park boys dealing with life in their fictional Colorado town in a world post-pandemic. According to Parker and Stone, these new specials are supposed to be between the past couple of specials and a feature-length movie in length. The aim is to have two of the 14 movies released every year until 2027.

The satire of South Park is an excellent vehicle to explore the craziness of the past two years. Their previous pandemic-related specials dealt with everything from police brutality to the US Covid response to QAnon and vaccines. The newest Paramount+ specials may see Cartman and co. address vaccine mandates and those opposed to them or any number of events since March they have to draw from. What is certain is that Parker and Stone won't pull their punches as they have proven over and over again.
