A new Paranormal Activity 7 clip shows a spooky child creeping everyone out. The found-footage horror franchise's humble roots began back in 2009 with Paranormal Activity, a film that was shot by Oren Peli for just $15,000 (although the post-production process cost an additional $200,000) and went on to gross $193 million at the box office. The film went on to spawn three direct sequels and two spin-offs, The Marked Ones and The Ghost Dimension. Now, Paramount's Paranormal franchise will be reinventing itself yet again.

The latest reimagining of the franchise, Paranormal Activity: Next Of Kin, is from Underwater director William Eubank, franchise veteran writer Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky), and producer Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions. The film is told through the perspective of a documentary crew as they follow Margot (played by Charmed's Emily Bader) into a remote Amish village. There, she hopes to reconnect with her long-lost mother and extended family, but soon begins to suspect that the tight-knit community might be harboring sinister secrets. Next of Kin also stars Roland Buck III (Better Call Saul), Dan Lippert (Superstore), and Henry Ayers-Brown (The Blacklist).

Now, another look at the next chapter in the Paranormal Activity franchise is here courtesy of Collider. The clip shows Margot talking to a young girl who lives in the Amish village. After learning that her doll shares a name with her supposedly missing mother, the girl creepily informs Margot that "she's still here" and "she doesn't like you." Check out the new clip below:

This very moment behind Margot and the creepy young girl was included in the Next of Kin trailer that was released earlier this month. Although, this clip hinted at the fact that Margot's mother doesn't want her around the community. With a few days to go until Next of Kin's release, the film is now in the last leg of its promotional campaign before it hits Paramount+ on October 29, just in time for the weekend of Halloween.

Since the previous installment from 2015, Ghost Dimension, was believed to be the final film in the series, Next of Kin's announcement came as quite the surprise, and many began wondering what direction the franchise would take next. From the look of this clip and other trailers, Paranormal Activity 7 clearly seems to be taking inspiration from M. Night Shyamalan’s The Village, Robert Eggers' The Witch, and Ari Aster's Midsommar as the franchise ventures off its haunted house format. In just a few days, audiences will soon be able to see the franchise's bold new direction for themselves.
