Patch 6 is officially live for Baldur's Gate 3, giving players access to a host of new content that includes the Sorcerer class and Grymforge region. Landing in July, Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 5 marked the last major update for the early access role-playing title. It most notably revamped the camping system, added dialogue to sections without cutscenes, and improved upon character background settings.

Baldur's Gate 3 takes place more than a hundred years after the events of its predecessor - 2000's Baldur's Gate II: Shadow of Amn. Interestingly, the latest Baldur's Gate doesn't following in all of the original sequel's footsteps. For one, the gameplay featured in this particular outing bears more in common with developer Larian Studios' Divinity: Original Sin, due in large part to its turn-based combat mechanics. Larian released an early access version of the new Baldur's Gate entry in October 2020, with a full release slated for sometime in 2022 at the earliest. Until then, users can expect the studio to continue pushing out extensive content updates.

The most recent update for Baldur's Gate 3 comes in the form of Patch 6, bringing with it a slew of changes, improvements, and fresh content. Notably, users can look forward to exploring Grymforge, a new region filled with additional story opportunities, previously unseen enemies, quests, and extra characters. Patch 6's arrival lets loose the playable Sorcerer class, too, which adds Metamagic and new spells. Metamagic, each Sorcerer's "signature ability," allows players to strengthen spells mid-combat by increasing the range or duration, for example. Plus, the Sorcerer class boasts two distinct subclasses - the chaos-embracing Wild Magic and Draconic Bloodline, a subclass with dragon ancestry. Today's rollout of Patch 6 also features a "huge graphical upgrade," evidenced in the addition of volumetric lighting, fresh color grading, and new particle effects.

Even in Baldur's Gate 3's early access phase, Larian Studios shows no sign of slowing down its incredible expansion of the already robust offering. And reason suggests that since the title still lacks a firm due date for the full release, the content updates will continue to impress for quite some time to come.

Founded in the mid-1990s, Larian Studios made its big break with the release of Divine Divinity in 2002, a top-down action-RPG that gave birth to several follow-up entries, including Divinity: Original Sin and Original Sin II. Needless to say, Larian has established itself as the home of inventive RPG experiences.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available to play now in early access on Google Stadia and PC.
