The latest set of overseas players have been confirmed for The Hundred's women's competition this summer. The five players announced include three of Australia's T20 World Cup winning squad, one of whom is the player of the tournament, Beth Mooney, who will play for Welsh Fire.

Each of the eight women's teams in The Hundred can have three overseas players in their 15-strong squad. Wednesday's (March 11) announcement is the latest batch of confirmed international signings, taking the total of overseas players who have been picked up by the teams to 18. Only two sides have so far filled up their allocation which means the remaining six teams still have one overseas space each to fill.

Welsh Fire are one of the sides who have done their business early. Mooney, who has also just been crowned as the women's T20I number one ranked batter after a World Cup which yielded 259 runs at an average of 64.75, will join up in Wales with fellow Australians Jess Jonassen and Meg Lanning, who lifted the trophy at the MCG on Sunday (March 8).

All-rounder Ash Gardner and fast-bowler Nicola Carey are the other two Australians who have been announced, signed by Birmingham Phoenix and Northern Superchargers respectively. South African all-rounders Marizanne Kapp, signed by Oval Invincibles, and Chloe Tryon, picked up by London Spirit, complete the set of overseas players confirmed today.

Aside from Welsh Fire, the Invincibles are the only other team to have completed their allocation of international players with the signing of Kapp. She will be joined in south London by her South African teammate, Dane van Niekerk, and Australian vice-captain Rachael Haynes.

All the other sides still have overseas spaces to fill. Gardner is the Phoenix's second overseas signing after New Zealand's Sophie Devine was confirmed previously. Carey joins another Australian World Cup winner, Alyssa Healy, at the Superchargers while Tryon and West Indian all-rounder Deandra Dottin will combine for the Spirit.

The other three sides in the competition, the Manchester Originals, Southern Braves and Trent Rockets, did not announce an overseas player in this latest round and still have one space each to fill before the competition gets underway on July 22 when the Phoenix take on the Originals at New Road in Worcester.

Beth Barrett-Wild, Head of The Hundred - Women's Competition, said: "It's fantastic to see five more international stars signing up to play in The Hundred this summer. The competition is really building momentum, and it's very exciting to see the growing list of world class talent involved across the eight teams.

"We've now confirmed the names of 18 overseas players who will compete in the women's competition, including the likes of Meg Lanning, Suzie Bates, Stafanie Taylor and Lizelle Lee; with six still to go, the standard of cricket is set to be very high."
