Turtle Rock Studios, the developers of the original Left 4 Dead have fired back at KFC Gaming, after the global fast-food company's gaming branch called out the studio's newest title, Back 4 Blood, for being a "cheap copy" on social media. Back 4 Blood officially launched today and is the spiritual successor of the critically acclaimed Left 4 Dead franchise. Though the new cooperative zombie-slaying first-person shooting title is largely similar, it injects some innovation into its gameplay with new features such as its card system. This allows players to modify their campaigns and have distinctive experiences from each other.

While the studio is known for creating the Left 4 Dead series and its concept, its publisher, Valve is believed to be the reason for its critical and commercial success. The popular co-op zombie shooter franchise was created using Valve's Source engine, scripting, and authoring tools, as well as being written by its writers and composed by the companies symphony orchestra before being extremely well marketed. The companies reputation for this goes beyond the zombie franchise, as Valve is known for hiring talented modders who have created some of the companies most popular IPs and fan projects, and continues to do so almost two decades later.

In a quote tweet commending over KFC Gaming, Turtle Rock Studios has responded to the fast-food companies' harsh take on their newest title, Back 4 Blood. KFC Gaming is seen having posted a meme that distastefully makes fun of the studio's new title for being a "cheap copy" of the acclaimed Left 4 Dead. The studio however clapped back by stating that the fast-food restaurant had "11 herbs and spices, and still no taste." trashing their food on social media. It didn't end there, as the beef continued in the comments with hundreds of Turtle Back Studio's followers backing up the game and ridiculing KFC for its nonsense.

Following their incredibly successful first game project, Evolve, after the company split from Valve in 2011, Turtle Rock Studios began developing a new zombie co-op FPS in the vein of Left 4 Dead. This was later revealed to be Back 4 Blood at The Game Awards 2020, and set to release in 2021. The game was shown to feature a more expanded narrative than the Left 4 Dead franchise and introduced four main characters who have their own customization options, perks, abilities, and their backstories.

Whether the grievance between Turtle Rock Studios and KFC Gaming was used as promotional marketing or actual blether is unknown. Players can however decide on their own if Back 4 Blood is a worthy spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead or not, as the zombie adventure is officially out worldwide today.

Back 4 Blood is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
