Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available.

Sledgehammer Games and Activision unleashed a launch trailer for Call of Duty: Vanguard, confirming the release times for those who preorder the game digitally in North America. Vanguard marks the first Sledgehammer-led Call of Duty entry since 2017's WWII. The California-based developer kept busy throughout the last several years, though, notably lending a helping hand with the development of Modern Warfare (2019), as well as Black Ops Cold War.

Vanguard sees Sledgehammer, and players, once more exploring World War II, except this particular adventure revolves around the origins of Special Forces units. The campaign will allow fans to experience the Second World War from the perspective of four Special Forces members, all traveling to Berlin to investigate reports of the Nazis expanding their rule in Hitler's absence. With the shooter only a couple of weeks and change out from release, Call of Duty faithful don't have to wait too much longer to see how Sledgehammer's latest pans out.

Today, October 17, Call of Duty: Vanguard received an official launch trailer, the tune of Jack White's "Taking Me Back" supporting the on-screen action. Most importantly, the tail end of the video features information that fans who pre-ordered Vanguard digitally will want to keep in mind. The title will become available to play for digital pre-purchases on November 9 at 9:00 PM PST. This launch time only applies to North American console players, though. As CharlieIntel on Twitter noted, console players in other territories can expect the shooter to go live at midnight local time. And the global PC release will occur simultaneously at an as yet unspecified time.

Players who experienced Black Ops Cold War's rollout last fall should find all of the above familiar. Even Vanguard's coordinated global release on PC is a repeat of Activision's launch tactics from approximately 12 months ago.

Vanguard-related leaks aside, information about the game continues to release piecemeal. Activision showcased the Zombies mode in action for the first time just last week, courtesy of a two-minute reveal trailer that confirmed the return of the classic Shi No Numa map, which originally debuted in 2009's World at War.

Call of Duty: Vanguard hits PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms this fall on November 5.
